I used to hand out print copies of these guides out all the time. Now the booklet is online, and I think that is a shame. There is nothing like holding it in your hand and paging through it. Best of all, the print version would still work if the power grid crashed. Of course that begs the question of if your irrigation system would still work…..
On the cover is says it is a guide for the Arizona Desert – but it works in eastern California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and even across the border in Sonora and Chihuahua, because climate does not recognize international boundaries. Actually, I suspect it would work in similar climates around the globe – including “down under” in Australia, or in the deserts of Argentina, or across the arid regions of the Middle East.
If you do nothing else – go to the last page and print that page. It is a very handy timer guide that works very well for the Low, Middle and Upper Desert areas in both the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts.

Here is what they have to say:
“Welcome to Landscape Watering by the Numbers — an online guide for the Arizona Desert. This interactive guide is designed for conditions in the Phoenix metro area, and should also work well for other low desert regions of Arizona. Over half of the water we use at home is used outdoors, which makes watering efficiently one of the best and easiest ways to save water. Proper watering will also keep your landscape plants healthy and beautiful throughout the year.”
